Sounds for film

Yesterday we were out for some additional recording for a feature film. Both Atmos and SFX for different scenes. A major part of the movie situates in a Citröen Berlingo Multispace, so we of course had to get a lot of sound down for the car.
We started out at a local Citröen dealer. The dealer had been wickedly chosen for the task by the Citröen Norway HQ. Little did they know...
We recorded motorway drive-bys, etc. etc. on our way to the location for the day, Nesodden, Akershus, Norway (see map). The boss (Alex) had chosen a (almost) deserted stretch of road for our tasks. Here we recorded all the sounds we needed from the Berlingo. We of course also got the usual “not wanted” takes of: Hillbillys, Seagulls, Crows, Helicopters, Jet planes, Other cars, running sound designers, etc.

Daddy day care

From 2nd of August, I have been busy taking care of my soon-to-be 1 year old daughter. Parental leave with my daughter for 10 weeks is both cool and boring at the same time. Guess almost 19 years of working have put some die-hard habits into the soon-to-be 37 year old body :-)
Words can’t explain, so here’s a log of pictures from our days on the roll...

Thunder Storm

The thunder storm that hit south of Norway Tuesday 13th of July 2010 was awesome. It came out of nowhere, manifesting quickly from just an lightly clouded sky.
Since I do a lot of work as a sound designer I just had to capture the sound. I got 45 minutes of 96khz 24bit splendid stereo material for my FxLib. Can’t wait to put it into use.
When I do such recordings, I always make sure to properly meta tag the material, and categorize it, so it is easy to put into use in a production situation.

Speyside Whisky festival 2010

We are a bunch of old colleagues and friends traveling together each year (almost). This year, as well as in 2008, we spent the best of days in Speyside, Scotland. We attended the Spirit of Speyside Whisky festival, something that might turn out as a tradition for this bunch of crazy geeks.
Four days filled with some of the best Whiskies Scotland can present. No wonder we were a bit tired each morning. Wee Drams all day can break even the tallest and toughest Viking ancestor, which of course, we all are!
Thankfully, to cope with all this majestic drinking, we chose the best place to stay this year. Castle Hotel in Huntly turned out to be the best there is and the best hosts imaginable.
